Eight Oaks, a small batch, farm to bottle craft distillery located in the Lehigh Valley, engaged Merz to create branding that truly differentiated them in the rapidly expanding world of craft spirits. It was important to capture the influence of the past and the vision of the future that the Eight Oaks brand embodied along with their deep commitment to sustainable farming.


The Merz BranDNA Strategic Process facilitated almost every facet of the comprehensive branding campaign for Eight Oaks, including: the “Every Spirit has a Story” positioning; the logo design based on the co-founder’s family tradition of using the number “8” to say “I love you;” and the farm fresh, locally grown spirits graphic identity. From business cards made out of oak to distinctive labels designed for each spirit, and from a custom hex sign for the distillery to a responsive and engaging website, Merz designed and produced every element to introduce the brand to a receptive marketplace.


Within six months of the brand launching, Eight Oaks won an American Distilling Institute Award for its grain-to-glass wheat vodka, received industry recognition for its branding campaign and turned a profit. Most recently, Eight Oaks has tripled their staff, expanded into new locations and added two more spirits – Bourbon and Rye Whiskey – to their already impressive product line. Merz remains Eight Oaks’ trusted branding partner as their success and “Distillation Nation” grows.
