Methodist Ministries Network is a faith-based, member ministries network that serves children, youth and families, seniors and persons with disabilities and shares a commitment to excellence in human services.
The Challenge
The UMA Board of Directors approved a full rebrand of the UMA name and logo, following the Brand Name Committee’s recommendation. Key reasons for the change included:
- Varied interpretations of “United Methodist,” “Methodist,” and “Global Methodist” across congregations.
- A trend among churches and organizations to update names while honoring Methodist heritage.
- The UMA acronym omitted “Health and Welfare Ministries,” causing confusion.
- The term “Welfare” was outdated and no longer resonated with members.
- UMA’s logo closely resembled that of the United Methodist Church.
The Solution
A successful UMA rebrand would produce a name and logo that reflect its current membership and mission while supporting strategic initiatives.
From an initial list of 32 options, Methodist Ministries Network was selected as the new name because:
- Methodist honors their rich heritage and all expressions of Methodism, celebrating Christian servant leaders.
- Ministries represents their diverse faith-based members serving people in need.
- Network highlights their national community, fostering connection and collaboration.
The new logo, vibrant and colorful like a flame, nods to the traditional Methodist symbol. Its petals and hues also resemble a flower, representing the diversity of ministries and expressions of Methodism within the membership.
Revealed at the 2024 Annual Meeting, the new name and logo were enthusiastically received by members.
